Headed west

Atop waters deep blue and surroundings calm green,

We see a boat afloat, two people in between.

Together they came as accomplices of love,

Started a voyage so beautiful, almost undreamt of.

But one wanted a path different from the other,

A canoe was cleft and a love, smothered.

I wish you knew how much of you I miss,

And I hate to admit, I am so alone in this.

Can’t speak to them for I don’t think,

Anyone fathoms what it is like to feel your love sink

Deep beneath the ocean, somewhere in the dark,

Far from our reach, leaving an emptiness so stark

That it swallows me down in one breath,

And I wonder if easier would have been death.
