Strangers Again

Puffing cigarettes,

Drinking whiskey all night,

Doing everything just as I might,

And you say I damaged your heart?

Your love yardstick,

When you change me to someone yours and not mine.

Amid everyone desolate and everything sick.

I seek an urge to break away.

And you say I damaged your heart?

Fell out of you, fell in for a bit too.

Conscious illusions are the hardest,

And so, love left me heartbroken faster than it grew.

And you say I damaged your heart?

Painful as it is a lot of things are,

But I know what leaves the soul bleeding.

I can’t have you the way I did.

Living under the blame,

Having no one to share it with.

Heart broken you are, but I am too.

With the knowledge, that I’ll never have you.

Without a word, I shall let you go.

And you say I damaged YOUR heart.
